Report: The State of Inclusion in Today’s Workplace

The data is clear: Inclusion efforts matter.
Creating an inclusive workplace isn’t just the right thing to do — it’s a business imperative. When employees feel valued, supported and empowered, companies see real results: higher innovation, stronger retention, and a culture that drives success. Inclusion programs based on anti-discriminatory principles are not only legal, but they are also necessary for meeting companies’ long-term business goals.
To better understand where organizations stand against recent political and cultural shifts, Traliant surveyed over 500 full-time U.S. employees across key industries—including healthcare, retail, hospitality, manufacturing, and professional services. Key results include:
- Nearly all (99%) respondents said they valued an inclusive workplace, but almost one-third (31%) reported feeling excluded or marginalized at work in the last five years.
- For those who’ve experienced exclusion, over half (55%) said they considered leaving their job because of it.
- Employees in organizations that offer company-wide inclusion training reported significantly lower rates of exclusion (29%) compared to those whose companies limit training to managers (47%).
The data is clear: Inclusion efforts matter. HR leaders now have a powerful opportunity to bridge the gaps identified in the report, strengthen workplace respect, and create environments where both people and businesses thrive.
Report methodology
The independent market research firm Researchscape conducted this survey. Respondents were 529 U.S. workers from organizations with more than 100 employees. The survey was conducted in December 2024.
